The Opportunity

You will be based in our civil and structural engineering team in our growing London office located in Southwark. You will play an important role with delivering innovative solutions for our client's whilst developing and strengthening our civil engineering offering not only within the London office but throughout the entire civils discipline within Ridge.

 

The Ridge civil engineering team has expertise in highways design, pavements, bridges, earthworks engineering, cut and fill assessments, ground remediation, underground services, flood alleviation, sustainable drainage systems, pumping stations and sewerage systems, external works and highway and drainage section agreements (S278, S38 & S104).

Role and Responsibilities

The role includes:

  • Working within project teams
  • Interfacing with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects i.e. architects, building services engineers, project managers and cost managers
  • Assist with client / project proposals to win new work
  • Represent Ridge at client and project meetings to present designs and make key project decisions
  • Manage, co-ordinate and/or undertake highways and drainage designs for developments of varying size
  • Produce Flood Risk Assessments (FRA’s), Drainage Strategies and other Pre-Planning advice
  • Provide day-to-day client interface, conducting site visits for technical assessment and problem-solving
  • Managing / mentoring junior engineers
  • Managing financial performance on projects

Experience and Skills Required

What we need from you:

  • The desire to progress your career as a Civil Engineer
  • To be creative, inquisitive, think laterally and like to challenge the norm.
  • Extensive proven experience in a similar role with a good working experience of S104, S106 and S185 (water industry act) agreements, S278 and S38 (Highways Act) agreements and Building Regulations Part H and M which will be discussed at interview.
  • Graduated with a relevant degree and be professionally qualified as a Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE) or close to becoming chartered.
  • A good working knowledge of AutoCAD and in particular Civil 3D
  • Possess a good working knowledge of Infodrainage / Microdrainage
  • A solid understanding of drainage design including SuDS, highways and cut and fill analysis
